Formed in 1964, this is San Pedro’s first all-blues band. The
masterful guitar work of Field Monroe is a blend of jazz, blues, Latin
and rock styles. Richard Manzanares’ firey vocals and guitar work
and his vocal styles take blues, jazz, and rock to the highest levels.
His guitar work is powerful and passionate. Andy Najara’s sax,
vocals and guitar are exceptional. Doug Welbaum on bass and vocals is
a rock solid musician and performer. Band leader Jerry Butera on drums,
percussion, vocals and harmonica is proud to be surrounded by all these
wonderful musicians and close friends.
The band has a new CD out this year titled “New Directions”,
featuring all original tunes recorded at the John Palos Studio in San
Pedro. A CD release party is to be announced this summer. Palos who
plays virtually all styles of music joins the group on occasion on
keyboards and piano. The band has regularly played at “Ports O’
Call” Restaurant, Double Tree Hotel at the Cabrillo Marina, The Whale
and Ale Restaurant, Music by the Sea, various businesses and restaurants
in downtown San Pedro and Avalon.
